![]() ![]() ![]() Lee Smith books - Last Hour of Gann, Heat and now Land of the Beautiful Dead. Her books are LONG (yes! finally an author that caters for those of us that love a nice big hunka chunka book) and full of all the things I are also all very much adult books. It's always dark, visceral, and fully thought out, plotted and so intense. R Lee Smith hits all the right notes for me. Friends wanted to process the book on Twitter but I couldn’t because my brain was tied up with so many thoughts. I’ve now changed the order of my R Lee Smith reading priority: The Last Hour of Gann, The Land of the Beautiful Dead, and then Heat. ![]() I’m still absorbing the book, even ted Reading Time: 5 mins. It was more than simply “emotional” and I still haven’t managed to wrap my head around these characters. FINAL THOUGHTS on LAND OF THE BEAUTIFUL DEAD by R. ![]() You see, Azrael and Lan are much alike/5(). It's bitter and heartbreaking, philosophical and surprisingly deep, it's a homage to humanity in all its incredibly predictable arrogant glory, and it made me both love and dislike the main characters. Land of The Beautiful Dead is a very twisted and dark variation of Beauty and The Beast. ![]()
